- Every month we celebrate one woman in our super woman corner. We believe that every woman is a hero and worth celebrating.
Meet our Super Woman for the month of July;
Can we meet you briefly? (Name, family, school, etc)
My name is Chiamaka Evelyn Ndukwe. I come from a family of 5 children, I am the 4th child.
I studied Education and English Language in Abia State University Uturu.
In 2015, I got a Post Graduate Degree in Education from the University of Nottingham.
I started singing at age 4 in the children’s choir and has since then, sang in different musical groups (including the Lagos Metropolitan Gospel Choir) and led several choirs.
When did you launch into music professionally?
I launched into music professionally in 2015, with my debut single-Omewoya, produced by Rotimi Keys.(The producer behind Hit singles like Only you by Nikki Laoye, Light up my world by PITA and many more)
What inspired you to go into music?
I’ve always found solace in Music since childhood. I grew up listening to Darlene Zschech and Panam Percy Paul stir up souls through powerful songs of praise and worship. Since then, a strong passion to do likewise has been burning in me. The first time I ever got an award and public applause in life was for a question I answered correctly in Music sometime in Primary 1.
What musical instruments do you play and how did you learn to play it?
I play the acoustic guitar. I attended a conference sometime in 2008 where a guy briefly showed me some major chords on the guitar. I went crazy(lol) then bought mine and began rehearsing these chords on my own. I haven’t stopped rehearsing since then. I also did a lot of practice from online tutorials.
Do you have an album yet?
Not yet, but working on one.
So how do you deal with male admirers especially since it’s rare to find women who play the guitar?
Lol. I see admiration especially from the opposite sex as a compliment. However, I try to draw boundaries where necessary.
What’s the most challenging experience you have ever had and how did you overcome it?
Hmmmm….I’d say when I had to make a decision regarding my place of worship. I had several thoughts and emotions running through at the same time. It was a huge battle between my will, God’s will, what people will think and what was needful. However, I had to step aside, take a deep breath and say, “God in this regardless!”
What’s your favourite bible scripture?
Oh….Romans 8:38-39
” None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us (The Message Bible)”
Where do you see yourself in 5years?
I see myself as a strong influence in the music world, with several records of impact through music.
What’s your advice to people who are yet to discover purpose?
Every individual is a multiple protégée of numerous gifts and talents. We have only one life to live, but several opportunities to harness our potential. What we do with our gifts and talents outlives us after we are gone. Every individual was designed to colour the world in some way to God’s glory, so start now by asking, “Why am I here? What can I do?” Nothing is too small.
Any last words?
